Apply APA formatting to a research paper.
This week you’ll be writing the first ofmany scholarly papers using American Psychological Association (APA) formatting style. It will be important that you have a good grasp of the formatting style in order to create the constructs (title page, citations, references, paper content) required for all good academic writing.
Also, as we saw in our discussion earlier this week, most plagiarism is a result of unintentional plagiarism. However, there are some instances where a problem is a result of technical errors. Those occur as a result of not properly applying the formatting style, which can quickly lead into unintentional plagiarism.
Create the outline of your paper based on the topic you chose last week. Watch this video for how to create an effective outline.
Turn the outline into paragraphs, ensuring that you have the following paragraphs. The outline format will be replaced by these paragraphs.
Introduction (1 paragraph)
Body (2-3 paragraphs)
Conclusion (1 paragraph)
At the top of your first page, click Control+Enter; this will give you a blank page at the top of your paper.
Create a Title Page on that blank page. Refer to theAPA Paper Example provided through Purdue OWL.
Add a citation of your scholarly article where it is appropriate in your paper. You may want to use what you created in the previous discussion.
At the end of your paper, click Control+Enter; this will force your cursor to a new page at the end of your paper.
Create your Reference Page. Refer to theAPA Paper Example provided through Purdue OWL. Remember to use what you submitted in the previous discussion for the actual reference formatting.
Use the Spellcheck tool to correct any misspellings. Watch the Spellchecking video below for how to use that tool in Word.
Use one of the free plagiarism checking tools you identified last week to correct any unintentional plagiarism.
Ensure that you use the Paper Writing rubric to guide your efforts and apply the required formatting style.
