Work within your assigned groups to apply growth and development theory, teaching/learning principles and the teaching process as it relates to the assigned Child Health Promotion Topics. Nurses in a variety of clinical settings often find themselves actively involved in the teaching role with children and families. In this experience, you will be promoting health related topics for both preschool age children (infant -5 years) and school age children (4.5-11). Children will learn to practice the health promotion information on their own share with their parents and give staff/teacher ideas to use in their own guiding care of the children.

Within your assigned groups prepare a 20- minute presentation on your identified Child Health Promotion which is oral health. There is an average of 23-27 students in grade K-3 and 27-30 in grade 4-5. Specifically utilize stories, songs/music, games, posters, crafts, age appropriate activities, drama, short cartoon videos etc. are engaging. Do not plan to give the children “take aways” such as toothbrushes because there will be too many children.
